EPL 2016/17: Watford stun Manchester United 3-1

The in-form Etienne Capoue struck his fourth goal in six games to put the hosts ahead at Vicarage Road and although Marcus Rashford levelled on 62 minutes with United’s first shot on target, Camilo Zuniga came off the bench and scored nearly immediately.

Paul Scholes believes Jose Mourinho must draw up new plans for his Manchester United midfield after Watford punished a “sloppy” Red Devils show at Vicarage Road.

After winning their opening three Premier League games, Mourinho had looked to have had a positive impact on Manchester United following the era of Louis van Gaal.

It’s only five games into the Premier League season but United is already six points behind the leaders – Guardiola’s City.

But his team has hit the buffers in September, losing first to Manchester City in the derby, then Feyenoord in midweek before the latest disappointing reverse. [Heurelho] Gomes made a phenomenal save [from a Zlatan Ibrahimovic header].

“In the second half we were much better, we get the draw [equalised] and after that we were the team and [Watford goalkeeper Heurelho] Gomes makes a phenomenal save and luck is again something we can not control”.

Speaking on the club’s official website he said, “I’m happy for the club, fans, players, everyone”.

“We have to improve individually and collectively no doubt”. Marcus Rashford equalised in the 62nd minute with United’s first shot on target but Watford responded as substitute Camilo Zuniga fired them back in front having just come off the bench.

Anthony Martial got injured in his head during the clash with Britos.

“We played very well, even against Arsenal and Chelsea here at home, but we were more unlucky than today”.

He added, “We can control our individual and collective mistakes”. “I think you need someone who can stop the play – but he needs to be capable of controlling the game of football as well, playing forward, passing forward”.

“In the eyes of everyone, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a Manchester United fan or a Watford fan or whatever, it was obvious”.

Nordin Amrabat cut past United defender Luke Shaw and released Roberto Pereyra, who fed Zuniga with a cutback, allowing Capoue’s replacement to restore Watford’s lead.
