EPL: Swansea Sacks Manager Garry Monk
Former England striker Beattie, a former team-mate of Monk’s at Southampton, was appointed first-team coach this summer, with his prime responsibility coaching the club’s forwards.

Garry Monk deserves another chance as manager after his Swansea City sacking, Sam Allardyce said.
A Swansea statement on Thursday read: ‘The club would like to thank Pep, James and Kristian for their service to the club and wish them well for the future.
Monk did an impressive job after replacing Michael Laudrup but fortunes fell against him in recent months and the Swans made the decision to end his tenure.
Monk had guided the Swans to their highest ever Premier League finish of eighth in his first full season in charge. Although it is speculated that Chairman Huw Jenkins wants to bring in someone with Premier League experience, which may rule out Warburton having only previously managed at Championship side Brentford.
The 36-year-old had been with the club for over 11 years, first as a defender and then manager since February 2014.
Garry Monk has been sacked as manager of Swansea City following a run of one win in 11 Premier League games, the Welsh club announced Wednesday.
“It was not a decision we took lightly, especially given Garry’s history and standing within the club”, said Jenkins, who has a reputation for showing loyalty to managers.
Swansea City supporters have reacted with doubts over whether Ghana coach Avram Grant is the right man to steer their club out of relegation after rumours claimed he was being considered for the post.
Last season, they picked up a club record number of Premier League points.
“They have not been through many hard periods over the last 10 years but we want to rectify this one as soon as possible”.
Swansea are just a point outside the bottom three heading into the game, following their 3-0 home defeat to Leicester City last time out.

“I have always tried to improve the principles and values that we have built at this club on and off the pitch on a daily basis”.
