Numerous hackers and online thieves has started gaining benefits from this data breach by Equifax and many of them have started plenty of websites to spy and to steal data of new consumers.
-Go to the Equifax security 2017 website to see if you are a potential victim.
Connecticut Better Business Bureau says consumers have legitimate reasons to be anxious about a successful cyber-attack against Equifax, one of the largest credit monitoring and reporting companies in America.
While the incident does not involve as many victims as other major recent cyberattacks, what makes the Equifax data breach risky is the type of information that was stolen by hackers.
Hiawatha Bray, technology writer for the business section of The Boston Globe. Though Equifax has set up a help site for consumers, language in the site’s terms of service agreement prohibits help site users from participating in any class action lawsuits against Equifax, so you may want to reconsider.
With nearly every customer details stolen from Equifax, hackers no doubt have a treasure trove of information which they can exploit.
A few paragraphs down, you’ll find a “clause” saying that you “the consumer” give up the right to sue Equifax and instead, must settle all disputes through arbitration. If you are, there are pros and cons to the fixes Equifax is suggesting.
It’s a new service that monitors your account for things like when new credit cards are opened or when your social security numbers appear online. Those who opt to use Equifax’s free service will be charged after a year if they do not actively cancel their subscriptions.
Since Social Security numbers were affected, there is risk of tax fraud.
“Well you do, you just do it and indirect way”.
“Identity theft and security breaches continue to plague consumers and businesses alike”, Jackley said.
