The two leaders, who met on the sidelines of the 13th Islamic Summit of the 56-member Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) being hosted by Turkey from April 10 to 15, also discussed the matters of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global issues.

Other areas expected to be discussed at the two-day summit include the Palestinian territories, Libya, Yemen, Syria and the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, which has been the scene of renewed violence between Azeri and ethnic Armenian forces. Turkey and Saudi Arabia disagree with Tehran’s support for Syrian President Assad and for the Shiite Houthis who are fighting a civil war with the regime in Yemen.

“The Conference rejected Iran’s inflammatory statements on the execution of judicial decisions against the perpetrators of terrorist crimes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, considering those statements a blatant interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a contravention of the United Nations Charter, the OIC Charter and of all worldwide covenants”.

The declaration said member countries were alarmed by the threat terrorism poses to peace and stability in many OIC states and “concerned about the power vacuum that eventually offers fertile ground to terrorist organizations like Daesh, Boko Haram, PKK/PYD/YPG”.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has accepted his proposal to create a multinational police center based in Istanbul to battle worldwide terrorism. “My religion is Islam”.

“During the terrorism acts that took place within OIC member states over the last three months, around 3,000 people lost their lives, while 4,000 were injured”, he said.
