Eric Cantona makes incredibly sound promise for one refugee family

Cantona, who said he is committing himself over at least a two-year period, will also provide food for those staying in the house. As such, Cantona feels a very close understanding of the tragic circumstances that so many have found themselves in at present and he has chose to set an example.

“I’m organising that with authorities in Marseille”, he told France Inter radio, AFP reported.

He explained: “My maternal grandparents were Spanish Republicans who fled Franco [in the Spanish Civil War] by crossing the Pyrenees on foot. That being our story, it certainly played a role”, explained Cantona on Tuesday.

Cantona added that his own grandparents’ experiences as refugees played a part in this decision.

Eric Cantona, however, has shown that he has a very generous and caring heart indeed in the way he has reacted to the ongoing refugee crisis.

The former Socialist voter, made it clear that he had lost confidence in the entire political class, especially President Francois Hollande.

Cantona is not the first high profile person to offer up their home to refugees.
