Eric Trump: Ted Cruz’s speech was ‘classless’
Republican nominee Donald Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka introduced her father on Thursday night before he took the stage to accept the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States, painting her father as “the people’s champion”. Now that was an event made for the small screen.

“You have nominated a man for president who never quits”, Pence said. The Nielsen company said the most tweeted-about moment of Wednesday night was the minute after Cruz’s speech.
Trump’s message has been honed before oversize crowds on the primary campaign trail.
“That pledge was not a blanket commitment that if you go and slander and attack Heidi, that I’m going to nonetheless come like a servile puppy dog and say, ‘Thank you very much for maligning my wife and maligning my father, ‘” Cruz said on stage at a Marriott in Cleveland. Many of the Republican old guard had stayed away.
“In Donald Trump, you have a candidate that knows the difference between wanting something to happen and making it happen”, she reiterated.
It’s Donald Trump’s big moment to make his case to the country – and to the many rattled doubters in his own party.
One of the main purposes of a convention is to serve as an opportunity to unify the party following a competitive and fractious primary season. “If not Trump, probably Cruz”. This, too, could have opened the possibility – however slim – of denying Trump the nomination.
Anti-Trump delegates became raucous and started chanting, “Call the roll!”
Trump said his proposal to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexican border is a way of taking a hard line on immigration laws – and he says that approach is “considerate and compassionate to everyone”.
He also went on the offensive against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Ivanka herself told the New York Times that when they are apart they speak on the phone five times or more a day.
In contrast to potential running mates like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Pence is a low-key politician who doesn’t seek the spotlight and will not overshadow Trump.
Trump painted her as corrupt, incompetent and hopelessly out of touch.
Trump’s speech, Manafort said, would focus on his “vision” for the country, as well as “the crisis facing the cities and the terrorism that’s facing the world”. While it may not be the greatest political scandal ever, it was an unwanted distraction for the campaign and put the Republicans off-message.
Those Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush insults will look like child’s play compared to what the Clinton campaign will throw at him. What lasting effect that has is unclear.
But if Trump wins, many feel that Cruz will lose clout and prestige.
France’s Les Echos, a financial newspaper on the right of the spectrum, said Trump had posed as the “savior of a country at the edge of the Apocalypse” in his “endless” speech on “endangered America”. And for electoral success, the party needs to be able to grow its base. “This is the fighter, the doer, that you have chosen as your nominee”, Ivanka Trump said. After all, Cruz had credited the former Alaska governor with boosting him into the Senate in 2012. His political future depends not just on Trump losing, but on Trump being completely repudiated by the Republican Party.
One thousand supporters snapped his picture in unison, while a delegate in a pink elephant-print shirt climbed atop her chair for a better view.
In her speech Thursday night, she promised affordable daycare and attempted to alter the narrative that her father is hostile to women. But at a time when wages are stagnated, jobs are disappearing, and people are increasingly at risk and facing threats both at home and overseas, it may well be enough to turn an election that was beginning to appear issueless into the most profound, prominent, and I dare say, nation determinative contest in recent memory.
“Show me the suburban women that we are going to pick up”.

“Ma’am”, Cruz answered, “I agree with you emphatically”.
