“Since I came in the last two years we have been going forwards, are taking steps upwards and I want to be a part of it”, said Eriksen, whose new deal is reported to be worth around £70,000 per week.

The north London club are back in the Champions League this season as a result and Eriksen will be looking forward to starring in Europe’s elite tournament, with Spurs due to play their home games at Wembley.

The Denmark global joined Spurs from Ajax in 2013 and has become one of their most influential players.

Eriksen, who has started all three of Spurs’ Premier League matches so far this season, netted six goals in 35 league appearances last season, supplying 13 assists, second only to Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

‘There’s a great future at the this place, otherwise I wouldn’t have signed if I didn’t see that, ‘ Eriksen told SpursTV.

“It’s a very good group of players who connect with each other, staff who connect with players”.
