After bolting from the station, Perez stole a Ford F-250 work truck from a nearby parking lot and remained on the lam until 8 p.m. Tuesday when cops finally found him again. Perez is described as Hispanic, 6-foot-3 and having a goatee. He is distinguished by a 3-inch “Air Jordan” logo on the left side of his neck.

For almost three hours, Perez remained in police custody.

The first time Alonso Perez ran from police, it took the North Las Vegas Police Department almost a week to find him.

The 25-year-old Perez also uses the name Alfonso Perez.

In its statement, police did not say how long Perez was left alone or how he managed to elude several levels of security.

No other details of the arrest were immediately available, including where it occurred.

According to KSNV, the police chief also regretfully revealed detectives were not watching the live feed when Perez broke free. AP’s earlier story is below.

Neighbors told KLAS that police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation surrounded the home for about three hours before taking the suspect into custody.

“Believe me, this is the last thing we wanted to happen”, Patty said.

“He twisted them until they broke”, Patty said prior to Perez’s recapture. “This is an extremely unfortunate circumstance”. “But the bigger focus is: We have a homicide suspect on the loose”.

Perez was initially arrested in connection with the fatal August 27 shooting of Mohammed Robinson, 31, though police have not explained how he was linked to the case. – An escaped murder suspect, accused of killing a man for not holding a door open for a woman at a McDonald’s, has been apprehended after a four-day manhunt, reports CBS affiliate KLAS. The truck was found abandoned a few hours later.

Patty says he doesn’t know if Perez had a weapon with him.

The chief added no one has ever broken out of handcuffs and escaped police custody in the 25 years he’s worked with the department.
