ESPN College Football Week 3 Odds: South Carolina vs. Georgia

Georgia Bulldogs will play in their second home game of the season as they take on the South Carolina Gamecocks this evening at Sanford Stadium.

LB Skai Moore should get the attention of opposing quarterbacks. It’s a cupcake game, one we’ll easily win, to help us get ready for Alabama next week. You can’t put this on Hoke.

“Zack had one or two low (snaps) but overall he was pretty good for the first time”. Bailey said he’d never played that position before Saturday.

“If we can keep doing this, we’ll be unstoppable”. Former walk-on Perry Orth started his first college game, taking over after Connor Mitch went down with a sprained shoulder the previous week in a loss to Kentucky. “It definitely wasn’t the outcome I wanted, but it was an awesome experience”.

All in all, it was not a good day for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Spurrier said Lambert “played well”. They have outstanding receivers. Michel rushed for 55 yards, had 32 receiving yards and accounted for three touchdowns. Last season, the 6th ranked Bulldogs were defeated by the Gamecocks, dropping them out of the top 10, so Georgia will be trying to avoid the same fate this season.

That broke the record of 19 set by Mike Bobo in the Outback Bowl following the 1997 season. The Gamecocks have won four of the last five games in the series including 38-35 past year in Columbia.

At Ponte Vedra High, Orth set school records for passing yards, touchdown passes and completion percentage. “Sometimes you’ve just got to show a little patience and guys will catch on and really play well”.

Nick Chubb became the second-fastest player in school history to run for 2,000 yards (he did it 16 games; the only player to do it faster is Herschel Walker). If the Gamecocks can halt Chubb, they have a shot.

Meanwhile Georgia’s offense thrived around tailback Nick Chubb (159 yards on 21 carries) and quarterback Greyson Lambert.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to 3-0, 2-0 in the SEC. Running back Sony Michel had a great game, scoring three touchdowns and 83 total yards. Lambert completed passes to nine different receivers, with Malcolm Mitchell leading the way with eight catches for 122 yards and a score. Spurrier said the dual-threat quarterback could also play more against Georgia, but was noncommittal about whether that might happen. “We didn’t see the execution tonight”.

The bright spots for USC were few and far between.

Lambert threw his only completion on an overthrow in the back of the end zone late in the first quarter, forcing the Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) to settle for a field goal. On the next kickoff, with Collin Barber handling duties, Carson returned the ball to the Georgia 48, which was followed by a Reggie Davis facemask penalty.
