The former baseball pro stirred up controversy on Twitter today (August 25) by drawing similarities between Muslims and Nazi-era Germans.

The tweet has since been deleted, but screen grabs have already circulated the Internet.

It all started when he somehow figured out how to use Twitter and did so by tweeting out a horribly inappropriate meme comparing Muslims to Nazis.

In a statement Tuesday, ESPN labeled the tweet “completely unacceptable”, pulling Schilling from the broadcast and leaving the door ajar for further punishment.

Schilling is also an analyst for ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball”.

“Needed to actually think a bit before acting on that one”, he told another user.

Following ESPN’s statement, Schilling tweeted again, writing, “I understand and accept my suspension”. Further, the gaming company he founded prior to his retirement, 38 Studios, went bankrupt, despite a $75 million loan guarantee from Rhode Island taxpayers. 100 percent my fault.

Curt Schilling + a Hitler meme = a guaranteed frightful idea.

But then in January, he claimed that voter bias against his Republican views excluded him from the Hall of Fame.
