Fantasy Sports tweeted out around 2 p.m. that it was “aware of the current technical difficulties”.
Today around 1pm ET / 10am PT (which is when the first round of National Football League games started) ESPN’s fantasy sports platform crashed and became unreachable on the web and in their mobile app. The company did not respond to CNNMoney’s request for additional information. The company said in October of previous year that the app had about 7.1 million unique users. Just last month, ESPN reported that more than 1.7 million teams had been drafted during a special one-day event. Eastern and lasted until at least 4 p.m., when ESPN said some users were able to get back online.
Agitated fans took to Twitter to voice their frustration, posting a string of hilarious “melt down” gifs as trouble persisted during the first slate of games.
Fantasy football attracts several million players each season. It appears that ESPN’s app crashed during the big day.

As if the rising popularity of daily fantasy sports sites aren’t giving ESPN enough to worry about this season, the fantasy sports provider’s platform has been down all day.
