The crew of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner returned to the Irish capital after the plane’s left engine signaled a fault following a scheduled stopover en route from Addis Ababa to Washington. The pilot opted to return to Dublin where fire and rescue crews were placed on standby. A DAA spokes person said that Flight ET500 made a safe landing at the Dublin Airport at 8:35 am.
“The cause of the technical defect is under investigation by our technical experts in cooperation with GE engineers”.
The Ethiopian plane had landed earlier today at the Dublin Airport for refueling prior to begin its journey for the United States.
The flight arrived in Dublin at around 4.45am.
The airline said passengers had been accommodated on a replacement airplane.

The mid-air scare is the latest headache for Boeing after a number of its Dreamliners had to be recalled in 2013 following a detection of battery problems.
