EU lawmakers tell UK: If you’re leaving, get moving

Farage also made a prediction that there would be further exits from the European bloc in the near future. He concluded by calling the Brexit vote a “seismic result” for world politics and predicting that the United Kingdom will not be the last country to leave the EU.

This has been echoed by German Chancelor Angela Merkel, who says no cherry-picking for the UK.

Farage was booed and jeered after making a speech in which he insulted his fellow members of the European Parliament and the whole European project, the Guardian reports.

Realizing the threat of a rift further tearing at the unity of a bloc of more than 500 million people, Tusk said he was planning a special meeting of the European Union leaders minus Cameron in Slovakia in September to chart a way ahead. That “is the only legal way”, he said.

Nigel Farage had his day in the sin today during an emergency meeting of the EU Parliament, to discuss the ramification of Brexit.

She said she hoped the Brussels summit would take place in that spirit of unity, and said the EU’s goal should aim to complete reforms of the bloc in time for the 60th anniversary of the Rome Treaty laying its foundations in March 2017.

Farage, during his speech, told the meeting of European MEPs, “you’re not laughing now”. “But I’m still sad because I’m not a robot, a grey bureaucrat or technocrat”, Mr Juncker said, alluding to how he feels he has been portrayed in the UK.

At the extraordinary plenary session of the European parliament on Tuesday, Juncker said, “We can not get into a period of extended uncertainty”.

As Farage laughed, Verhofstadt added: “OK, let’s be positive, we are getting rid of the biggest waste of European Union budget: your salary”.

No notification, no negotiation, he said, per the BBC.

“Anyone wishing to leave this family can not expect to lose all the obligations but keep the privileges”.

“Why don’t we just be pragmatic, sensible, grown-up, reasonable. and cut a sensible tariff-free deal?”
