EU Referendum Result: Southwark for Remain as United Kingdom votes Leave

Earlier today London Mayor Sadiq Khan released a statement on his Facebook page letting European residents in London know that they were “very welcome” to stay in the capital.

The Britain capital overwhelmingly voted to remain in the European Union during yesterday’s referendum, bucking a national trend which saw the Leave campaign secure victory.

The other three London boroughs which voted Leave were Sutton, Havering and Hillingdon. That would apply to both European Union citizens and British expats, Mr. Rajoy said.

He will say: “That’s why our four Labour leaders have come together to issue a rallying call to remain”. The petition was set up by James O’Malley from the British capital and this petition has received a total of 76,983 signatures.

He said: “I want to send a particular message to the nearly one million Europeans living in London, who make a huge contribution to our city, working hard, paying taxes and contributing to our civic and cultural life”.

It goes on to ask Mr Khan to “make the divorce official and move in with our friends on the continent”. Let’s face it – the rest of the country disagrees.

Tooting MP Sadiq Khan has said he would use his powers as mayor to ban separate entrances for market rate and affordable housing tenants for new buildings.

Suggesting a second independence referendum on Friday, Scottish First Minister said she said: “I have also spoken this morning with Sadiq Khan and he is clear that he shares this objective for London, so there is clear common cause between us”.

More than 40% of London’s population is non-white, compared to around 17% in the rest of England and Wales, according to the latest figures from the 2011 census.

Johnson, along with the the far-right political party United Kingdom Independence Party, have been criticized for employing scare-mongering tactics to convince Britons to withdraw its European Union membership.

Gowers added: “Of course, by far the best argument for London independence is the economic one”.

Some Londoners commented on Khan’s post saying that they’d be starting a petition for London to be independent from the United Kingdom and remain in the E.U.: “We are starting a campaign to make London independent”, wrote one man.
