Gorbachev, the director of a construction company in the central Russian city of Tula, was handed an 18 month sentence, while Morozov received a 12 month term.

Separately, police in Lyon in southeast France said two fans suffered stab wounds in a fan zone there on Wednesday.

They included Alex Booth, of Huddersfield, a chef who spent his 20th birthday in jail following his arrest for involvement in rioting in the French port city on Saturday.

Sporadic violence has since moved to northern France, where Russian Federation played Slovakia on Wednesday and England played Wales on Thursday.

German police said they will contact their French colleagues to determine if the men had been involved in the fan violence that had plagued Euro 2016 in France.

Three Russian fans have been jailed after being found guilty of taking part in the violent scenes that occurred in Marseille, Sky Sports reports. Police said about 50 people were hurt, 16 of them hospitalised.

Far-right figure Alexander Shprygin, who heads a Russian football supporters’ association, is among the 20 fans from the detained group who will be expelled from France.

UEFA has also told Russian Federation that it would be disqualified if there was a repeat of its fans’ violent behaviour, which included attacks on England supporters in the stadium as the match ended.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday that it is the United States and its allies, not Russia, that are responsible for the delay in seeking a peaceful settlement of the Syria crisis.

At least 36 people have been arrested following the clashes in Lille – where riot police fired tear gas and charged at hundreds of England fans, gathering in the city ahead of this afternoon’s Battle of Britain game with Wales in nearby Lens.

The bedlam hasn’t been restricted to England and Russians.

Local authorities in Lyon said the altercation broke up Wednesday evening after French supporters started to sing France’s national anthem, “La Marseillaise”.

On Thursday morning, police checked fans boarding trains from Lille to Lens to ensure none were travelling with alcohol, leading to long queues.

Lyon prefecture’s press office said the two fans injured are a Belgian and a Frenchman, “who sustained wounds to their thigh and bottom”.
