Euro 2016: The 3rd Place Permutations – How can Turkey qualify?

Northern Ireland need a point from this game, but unfortunately Germany need a win to seal Group C. If Poland beat Ukraine and Germany fail to win, they will have to settle for second place.

The Euro 2016 group stage is now nearly over, and the remaining groups are taking the pitch to determine the sixteen nations that will fight for the title in the knockout rounds. Spain was a bit sluggish in their opener but they kicked it up a notch in their second contest, which was a 3-0 win over Turkey.

Euro 2016 is guaranteed to see one of the continent’s less glamorous teams grab a rare moment in the spotlight by reaching the final in Paris on July 10.

The victor of that game will take on either England or Iceland after the latter’s late, late victor against Austria lifted them into second place in Group F to set up a showdown with Roy Hodgson’s men in Nice on Monday.

This is a tough game to call. Germany is still battling with Poland for top spot in Group C so we can expect them to bring their best in an effort to lock up first in their division.

Turkey got their Euro 2016 campaign off to an very bad start but despite losing their first two Group D games chances of qualification are well and truly still alive.

– If neither the Czechs nor the Swedes get a win, and neither Portugal nor Iceland get thrashed in their final match, then WALES WILL PLAY ALBANIA.

Meanwhile, Italy will take on Spain in the highest-profile game of the round thanks to the holders’ failure to top Group D – Saint-Denis will play host to that one on Monday.

The most exciting game is with Croatia and Spain, a game deserving of a place in the knockout stages.

Germany has yet to concede a goal as well and should be able to keep the Northern Ireland attack in check.

But moving above one side is not enough to get Turkey into the next stage they must move above another third place side.

Beyond that, however, Coleman’s team will reap the rewards that their magnificent labours in Group B earned them.
