Russian Federation had already performed poorly against England, when they scraped an ill-deserved 1-1 draw, and against Slovakia in a 2-1 defeat.

Real Madrid star Bale has won two Champions League titles in three seasons with the Spanish giants, but said last night’s victory in Toulouse matched anything he has achieved at club level.

Russian fans wearing traditional outfits cheer from the stands before the Euro 2016 Group B soccer match between Russia and Wales at the Stadium municipal in Toulouse, France, Monday, June 20, 2016.

Aaron Ramsey dinked the ball over Igor Akinfeev to finish off a counter-attack in the 11th minute and Neil Taylor added a second, also from a counter-attack nine minutes later as Wales took early control. “I think, for the pressure of the game, the way we played was probably one of the best team performances I’ve been involved in”, Bale told reporters after the win.

“As a nation geographically we’re small, but I think if you’re judging us on passion then we could be described as a continent tonight, because that was unbelievable”, said Wales manager Coleman.

“I’m so lucky to be experiencing something now as a manager, at a tournament, and to see the team perform like that, it’s really pleasing”, he said.

The Communist Party of Russia’s solution was more drastic for the team, who it said was as “soft” as the ruling United Russia party and only “for internal use”.

“Maybe against England we let the occasion get to us a bit, in terms of when we had the ball”.

England take on Slovakia in Saint-Etienne while Wales play Russian Federation in Toulouse with all four nations still in with a chance of reaching the next round.

“It was a great team performance, everything was spot on it was great”. It can go 50 yards over the bar, but then it can look even better when it goes in.

“As for everything that goes on around us, there’s a number of videos that have been uploaded on the web and clearly the English really did provoke them, and indeed the Welsh fans”. We’re at our first major tournament, we’ve got the chance to progress.

It gave Wales a 2-0 half-time lead in the biggest game in the country’s recent history.

On a night when Russian Federation had to win to keep their own hopes alive, they were simply blown apart by a red machine – Wales being allowed by UEFA to wear their home strip before kick-off.
