Eva Air to order up to 24 787-10s, two 777-300ERs
Taiwanese airline EVA Airways intends to buy up to 24 of the 787-10 Dreamliners that will be made exclusively at Boeing Co.’s North Charleston campus, the aerospace giant announced Thursday. Boeing holds 146 firm orders for that plane, so the Eva transaction would equal 16 percent of the backlog so far.

The carrier is the world’s 8th-largest 777-300ER operator and the 4th-largest in Asia. The total value of the deal exceeds $8 billion at current list prices, although airlines typically negotiate discounts.
“We look forward to welcoming EVA Airas Boeing’s newest member of the Boeing 787-10 launch customer group”, said Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Ray Conner.
EVA Airways, which will be among the first airlines to operate the latest version of the 787, now operates a fleet of 37 Boeing aircraft including 21 777-300ERs.
With its intent to purchase two additional 777-300ERs as part of this deal, EVA Airways will have unfilled orders for 15 777-300ERs and five 777 Freighters, as well as 24 787-10s – both direct purchased and leased, Boeing said.
The new 787-10 will be the longest member of the 787 family, joining the 787 and the 787-9.

Boeing has also been contracted by Oman Air for a suite of services to support the upcoming entry into service of its 787 Dreamliners and to ensure ongoing efficiency and cost savings for its fleet. The plane is created to carry 330 travelers in a typical two-class configuration, and fly as far as 6,430 nautical miles (11,900 kilometers).
