Fire information officer Max Birkner says no structures are now being threatened by the blaze.

Firefighters will remain on site overnight to continue working the fire.

Lisa Kutzner one of many guests on evacuation alert at Lake Okanagan Resort says the fire looks really close.

“Starting at 6:30, Westside Road will be open to single lane alternating traffic through the fire zone just north of Lake Okanagan Resort and south of Denison Road”, the statement said Thursday.

“Structures are not now threatened by the wildfire”, said Max Birkner, Kamloops Fire Centre fire informations officer.

The agency has issued an evacuation alert, warning residents of two nearby camps and a resort that they may need to leave at a moment’s notice.

About 20 BC Wildfire Service fire fighters worked with crews from area fire departments to keep an eye on the blaze through the night.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has now activated it’s Emergency Operations Centre to support response to the wildfire on Westside Road.

Boaters are being urged to stay away from the area as crews pull water from the lake to help extinguish the flames.
