Evacuation orders lifted for fire burning near Moses Lake

Fire crews have repeatedly had to abandon fire lines as the flames moved north. Myslivy says crews are trying to build another line using a prescribed burn near Lowman.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

A western Montana wildfire grew overnight to 11 square miles in the Bitterroot National Forest. Officials said Monday night better mapping allowed them to determine the fire had burned significantly more acreage than previously thought.

Federal and tribal officials reported progress Wednesday battling two large wildfires pushed by dry gusty winds through remote rangeland and rugged mountain canyons in northwestern Nevada.
