Even More From CES: Now You Can Order Groceries From Your … Refrigerator
Samsung’s Family Hub Refrigerator takes home appliances intelligence to the next level with a voice user interface that lets people talk to the refrigerator to access food and recipe content, apps and much more. It then lets you pick specific areas or rooms in the home that may need cleaning.

But that’s only the start. The four-door fridge comes equipped with a 21.5 inch full HD touchscreen built into it.
The whole family can write notes, post photos (even a selfie or two taken with the refrigerator camera), share calendars and even craft artwork right on the refrigerator’s touchscreen, or using their smartphone if they are away. MasterCard and Samsung are not the only companies bringing innovation to the mobile commerce space, of course, as Huawei, an electronics company based in China, has also introduced new mobile devices that could make mobile commerce more convenient. Samsung also announced that it will incorporate its SmartThings hub into its new SUHD television range, enabling you to adjust your air conditioning, home lighting and security systems by way of the Internet of Things. So if you’re running low on milk, you can get a reminder while you’re at the shops via the app.
“How many times have you gone to the grocery store and forgot to buy an important item, or bought something you already have?” asked John Herrington, a senior vice president at Samsung America, as he pitched the high-tech fridge.
“The fridge will drastically change our daily lives just as smartphones did… nearly a decade ago”, he said at a press conference.

The connected fridge also integrates the ability to do grocery shopping direct from the LCD screen. While Samsung isn’t talking pricing just yet, it has committed to shipping the Family Hub in the spring. With an entire operating system in place, you can even log into your fridge on the go via your smartphone, which should be useful in determining whether you need more nacho dip, apart from glancing at the temperature and humidity levels of the system. Samsung Group and MasterCard partnership in a joint venture to create high-tech refrigerators that feature touchscreens where customers can order groceries and watch TV.
