Reports said Kenny Bui, a wide receiver-defensive back at Seattle’s Evergreen High School, was injured by a violent tackle during the fourth quarter of a game against Highline High last Friday.
Bui was a student in the Highline Public School’s Technology, Engineering and Communication high school on the Evergreen campus, district officials said.
Bui was listed in critical condition as of Sunday, a hospital spokeswoman told The Seattle Times.
Monson said that Bui’s family is adamantly requesting privacy during this hard time.
Another Seattle-area player, senior David Young, suffered a C1 neck fracture last Friday. He has been fitted with a halo brace. The coaches pulled him from the game and said he needed to be examined. He got up right after the play and jogged to the sideline complaining of neck pain.
That’s the year that Drew Swank, a 17-year-old football player from Spokane died after suffering a head injury in an early-season game.

Young was taken to Centralia Hospital and later transferred to Harborview. Ramon Angel-Oros had surgery to receive swelling in his brain.
