The 53-year-old, who arrived at St Mary’s Stadium back in June 2014 after succeeding Mauricio Pochettino, guided Southampton to a sixth-place finish last season – their best-ever result in the Premier League.

Once that negotiation has been completed, getting Koeman to agree personal terms may be slightly easier, although the chances of actually seeing the Dutchman on Merseyside appear slim as, according to reports in his homeland, Koeman has gone on holiday again.

Everton have reportedly denied claims that an agreement has been reached to appoint Southampton boss Ronald Koeman as their new manager.

Everton are expected to confirm the appointment of Ronald Koeman as their new manager, Sky sources understand.

Scott Dann impressed for Palace during the first half of the Premier League season, although, like many of his teammates, his form tailed off towards the end of the season as Alan Pardew’s side finished in 15th place.

He has won the Dutch league with both Ajax and PSV.

Post-Ajax, Koeman took charge of four different clubs in four years.
