Everton have ambition and can do more, says new manager Ronald Koeman
They recently appointed Ronald Koeman as their new manager and the Dutchman is hopeful that his playing experience as a central defender will convince Stones to work under him, according to the Manchester Evening News.

EVERTON manager Ronald Koeman is set to anger Saints by making an approach for goalkeeper Fraser Forster, it has been reported. When I spoke to Everton, the plan, the project, the history of the club was interesting. “Everybody at Everton is ready to take the next step”, Koeman told Everton’s official TV station.
It is debatable whether Everton count as a bigger club than Southampton in anything other than historical terms. If we are going for a top player and fighting against the really big clubs in the Premier League, then we will probably lose because all the clubs already in the Champions League have a big advantage.
“I had a good contract at Southampton, the managers in the Premier League are very well paid, but in football you need ambition”.
“That is my character, I don’t like to lie or even make the picture nicer than the picture is”.
So, which Southampton players are most likely to follow Ronald Koeman to Merseyside?
“I like to help everybody”. Then we will see what happens.
“Southampton had the viewpoint of not letting a manager enter the previous year of his contract as it is not what you do in the Premier League I have proven with Feyenoord that does not have to be a problem so I could not understand their viewpoint and then Everton came in for me and that resulted in my leaving”.
Everton were interested in the 25-year-old last year and the story suggests Koeman is a fan of the former PSV Eindhoven man. “To be part of this is wonderful and I’m very proud to be manager of Everton”.

He said “it’s difficult” to go back and sign Southampton players but he likes “most of the players but maybe it’s best we don’t make that fight today”. From the beginning, I got the feeling from the chairman, Bill Kenwright, and from Farhad Moshiri, the club’s major shareholder, that I was their No. 1 choice and that is always a great feeling.
