Everton on the verge of sacking Roberto Martinez
His exit seems increasingly inevitable after a poor finish to the season. But his failure to replicate the achievements of that first season resulted in many fans calling for him to be sacked.

Everton will also consider Southampton’s Ronald Koeman, Sevilla’s Unai Emery, Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini, Stoke’s Mark Hughes and former boss David Moyes.
Everton’s board, led by new major shareholder Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright, have remained silent on Martinez’s future.
There have been calls for Martinez to be sacked by sections of the Everton support and it is unclear whether the Spaniard will manage to keep hold of his job.
‘Since the FA Cup semi-final it has been hard for us to get that belief and intensity in the league and Sunderland were the opposite – a fully focused team who created a good momentum because they were close to finishing the job.
“We have one more game to get the winning feeling and perform in a manner in which we can get the three points and end the season better”.
Further protests are planned at the club’s end-of-season awards on Thursday, and on Sunday in their final game of the campaign against Norwich at Goodison Park – if Martinez still remains in charge.

Having overseen a run of just one win in their last 10 matches, culminating in a wretched display in the 3-0 defeat by Sunderland on Wednesday night, the appetite for change among the Goodison Park faithful has spiralled.
