Everton have pledged £200,000 to help the family of a five-year-old Sunderland fan pay for cancer treatment in the United States.

Bradley’s family are hoping to raise £700,000 for him to go to America for life-saving treatment after being diagnosed with neuroblastoma for a second time.

Romelu Lukaku scored an 11-minute hat-trick to secure the three points, while Everton announced their decision to be major contributors to Bradley’s fundraising after the match.

Bradley was seen holding hands with his hero Jermain Defoe prior to kick-off, before he received a rapturous ovation from the Sunderland fans as he made his way on to the pitch.

He was told he was in remission in December 2014 – after several operations and a first bout of chemotherapy – but the cancer returned leading to more operations.

And five minutes into the match, supporters of both Sunderland and Everton joined in to chant “there’s only one Bradley Lowery” in a heart-warming moment.
