Everton sack coach Roberto Martinez

Everton could make a decision on manager Roberto Martinez’s future before Sunday’s match against Norwich City, according to Sky sources.

Martinez, 42, has spent three years in charge of the Toffees having been brought in as David Moyes’ replacement in 2013, despite suffering relegation with Wigan Athletic that season.

Adding to the team’s woes, they are certain to finish with their lowest points tally at Goodison Park since 1981, after managing just five wins at home this season.

They shockingly dipped to 11th last season and are now 12th in EPL standings with one game left.

Another protest was planned to go ahead on Thursday night outside St George’s Hall, where Everton will be holding their end-of-season awards dinner.

“If Bill Kenwright and the new owner who has come in alongside him want to change the manager at Everton Football Club for next season they’ve got to do it tomorrow”, Carragher said.

Roberto Martinez is reportedly set for the Everton exit door.

But this season has turned sour and Everton – despite a strong squad – are languishing in 12th place.

The team were also recently eliminated from the FA Cup semi-final by Manchester United while the Toffees have only won one of their last 10 games in all competitions, a 2-1 victory at home to Bournemouth.

At first, Martinez’s positivity even after poor performances was accepted by the majority of Everton fans because the improvement could be seen on the pitch.

The timing of the impending departure will inevitably fuel speculation over a move for Frank de Boer, who announced he was leaving his role as Ajax coach on Thursday morning.
