Everything to know about Baylor-Kansas, including predictions, analysis, TV

David Beaty, who now is the head coach, was the Jayhawk assistant who was recruiting Russell out of Garland. That’s the case this weekend with Baylor headed to Kansas. “I felt like it was a good fit for myself, and it was”. Check out the Baylor vs. Kansas fearless prediction and game preview.

Nationally, TCU is second to Baylor in total yards (630) and points (50.8) per game. Russell leads the Football Bowl Subdivision in passing efficiency, touchdown passes (19), yards per completion and numerous other statistical categories. Teams have taken advantage of the defense in the first half, scoring 73 points through the first two quarters compared to just 31 in the final half.

Baylor (4-0) goes into this contest hoping to continue its strong season, while Kansas (0-4) will aim to pick up a much-needed win. Man, that’s something that you can’t give them.

“You’ve got to go earn it”, Beaty said.

“There were a lot of the top prospects there, and I was able to win the MVP”, he said.

He’s still in charge of his normal holding and signaling duties – as he says, “I don’t mind and I can handle it”, – but he has watched extra film with his roommates and teammates and stayed up later than normal to make sure he has a detailed understanding of what Baylor does on defense. “They usually have that one game a year where they beat somebody or it’s close”, Bears offensive lineman Spencer Drango said.

“It will be a great challenge”, Beaty said of facing Baylor’s explosive offense.

“Brilliant? I don’t know about that”, he said. However, they would certainly do well to get a bit more discipline. Of his 36 stops, Smithson has recorded 27 solo tackles, averaging 6.8 unassisted-per-game which ranks 10th in the nation and first in the Big 12 Conference.

Kansas will start a freshman with only a couple dozen plays in college to his credit when the winless Jayhawks play unbeaten and third-ranked Baylor on Saturday. I love my coach (and) coaches.

I guess, the Big 12 wasn’t really into scheduling its North Division powder-puff against its South Division powder-puff back in the day. “Limiting possessions is going to be big”.

Now the Bears turn their attention to a Kansas team that requires more manufactured motivation.

True freshman Ryan Willis may be slated to start Saturday’s 11 a.m. game against No. 3 Baylor for the Kansas University football team, but when you’re talking about a program that already has lost three quarterbacks this season, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for anything. The Bears and Mountaineers are among seven Big 12 teams off to 2-0 starts.

And those two only got the chance to hold down the top two spots after senior Michael Cummings tore up his knee during the spring game. Player Who Matters Seth Russell is finding his groove. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing against your home high school team or somebody you were committed to. But the Wildcats’ pass defense might not be up to the task of stopping TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin and receiver Josh Doctson. So beating Kliff Kingsbury’s squad at least showed us that Baylor could hang with a very good team. Then you back that up with ability, and that’s where he’s at now.
