We don’t know exactly how many people were in the park when the evacuation call came around 2:30 p.m. CT, but estimates anticipated 100,000 for each of the three days – and it sure looks like that many.

The crowd was waiting for the singer to take to the main stage in Chicago, Illinois at round 2.30pm local time when festival organisers announced the evacuation in anticipation of a severe storm. All shelters can be accessed through vehicle entrances on Michigan Avenue.
A second release said gates would reopen at 3:30 p.m. and the music would resume at 4 p.m.
Lollapalooza organizers say they made the decision after the National Weather Service and six onsite weather monitors predicted strong storms with possible lightning.
For fans who like their music festivals warm and toasty, Lolapalooza 2015 in Chicago didn’t disappoint.

Erring on the side of caution, Lollapalooza organizers did decide to bring down the final curtain on the festival a few minutes early Sunday night as more thunderstorms began to descend on the city center.
