Everything you need to know about New Mexico’s 2016 Primary Election

The net effect has seen a flood of glossy mailers in local mailboxes from independent groups backing and attacking various candidates. Some primary results will award seats.

State Senate District 3: Three Democrats – Napa Assemblyman Bill Dodd, former Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada of Davis and retired Air Force Lt. Col. Gabe Griess of Vacaville – face off, along with Dixon Republican Greg Coppes. A qualifying candidate is one who has at least the number of votes as signatures needed for a petition in the Primary, has the highest number of votes and accepts the nomination by signing a Certificate of Acceptance and Oath of Allegiance in the municipal clerk’s office within seven days, according to County Clerk Rita Fulginiti.

While it is true that the Democrats for Princeton Council are likely to run unopposed in the November general election, there are a few scenarios in which they could in fact face opponents in the fall.

Democrats will be picking their candidate for U.S. Senate, but the party allows all voters to participate. The state’s six Democratic superdelegates have said they will commit to a candidate after Tuesday’s election.

House District 10 extends from parts of northeastern Boulder into the unincorporated Valmont and Gunbarrel areas of the county. The victor gets Democrat Fran Person and Rudy Barnes, Jr. with the American Party in November. The primary victor may get a challenge from petition candidate Michael Scurlock in November, if he collects enough signatures.
