“But she’s (In Gee Chun) a pretty incredible golfer at a really young age”.

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, FRANCE-South Korean In Gee Chun remains firmly on course for the second major of her career – and a possible golfing record – after posting a superb 6-under 65 in the third round of the Evian Championship on Saturday.

While Ko’s play was patchy, with a bogey and only two birdies, her rival Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand had a day to forget with a 2-over 73 featuring a triple bogey.

Park (68) and China’s Feng Shanshan (67), the Olympic bronze medallist, shared second place on 131 with another Korean, Ryu So Yeon (66).

“There’s no benefit for just long hitters”, she said. But she is nine strokes behind Chun, while American veteran Angela Stanford is 10 adrift in sixth spot after making par. “To me it’s just like junior golf again – but we’re professionals and we can have fun and make some money, so that’s more fun”.

Her 64 matched the earlier effort from England’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff, who started at the 10th and made five birdies over the last seven holes of the front nine before adding further birdies at two and three, propelling herself to five under and into a share of 13th.

Lydia Ko’s tumbled down the Evian Championship leaderboard after a bogey-filled third round at the LPGA’s final major of the year.

“A lot of memories of walking down the 18th on that last day”, Ko said Wednesday ahead of Thursday’s opening round.

This year, another young player emerged into contention on her tournament debut.

Her compatriot Park Sung-hyun lies second before Sunday’s final day.

She also wants a second major.

One of the three will likely chalk up enough points to grab the crown for “most outstanding record” in the LPGA Tour’s five majors. Let us know on Twitter or Facebook, and keep it here at Pro Golf Now for more Evian Championship updates.

US Open champion Brittany Lang was one of the big names to miss the cut, along with Laura Davies, Juli Inkster, Christina Kim and Karrie Webb.

The 19-year-old Kiwi was tied for 36th place – 19 shots behind leader In Gee Chun after shooting 75 on Sunday.

Ko’s numbers this season have been absolutely ridiculous, as she ranks first on the LPGA Tour in Putts per GIR, Putting Average, Scoring Average and Rounds Under Par.
