Ex-Eagles, Jets QB Mark Sanchez released by Broncos, per report

Mark Sanchez was signed by the Cowboys Saturday after being released by the Broncos.

Signing Sanchez is all about adding to the Cowboys’ quarterback depth. They’ll recoup his .5 million salary and the seventh-round draft pick they surrendered to the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire him earlier this year.

This news comes just less than a week after the Broncos were actively trying to deal Sanchez to the Cowboys, who ultimately relented and still got their guy for a lower price. Romo will be requiring a few months off, approximately six to 10 weeks, in order to recuperate from the injury and will put rookie fourth-round pick Dak Presscott on the starting lineup, multiple sources reported.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – Mark Sanchez, Denver’s biggest offseason acquisition, didn’t make the roster, saving the Broncos $3.5 million and a seventh-round draft pick.

Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak watches from the sideline during the second half of the team’s NFL preseason football game against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, in Glendale, Ariz. He’s thrown 86 touchdowns and 84 interceptions in 75 games.

Otherwise, the Cowboys will most likely experience the same level of disappointment from Sanchez as the Eagles and Broncos.

“Like I have said from the beginning, I am just going to keep doing my job and do whatever the team needs me to do”, he explained. Denver is the first team since the 2001 Baltimore Ravens to try to go back-to-back after losing its top two quarterbacks.

It’s also worth noting that Sanchez was carried to back-to-back AFC Championship Games by a very good New York Jets defense in his first two National Football League seasons in 2009 and 2010.

So obviously Trevor is rather inexperienced and that could be a concern for the Broncos since his first game action will come against Luke Kuechly and the very good Carolina Panthers defense.

Taylor, who spent his rookie season in 2015 on the practice squad and was best known as the personal receiver for Peyton Manning in the quarterback’s rehab work, caught four passes for 109 yards.
