The indictment alleges that, on or about May 10, 1993, Salemme and Weadick murdered DiSarro to prevent DiSarro from communicating with federal law enforcement officials about violations of federal laws by Salemme and others.
The indictment states Salemme’s son, Frank Salemme Jr.
“My client had absolutely nothing to do with the murder of Steven DiSarro”, attorney Carmine Lepore said.
Salemme was the boss of the New England La Cosa Nostra during the early 1990’s until his indictment for racketeering in 1995 and conviction in 1999.
The indictment says shortly after DiSarro was killed, Salemme brought his body to Providence, Rhode Island, where his associates made arrangements to bury it. DiSarro’s remains were found in March behind a mill in Providence.
Prosecutors could seek the death penalty for the crime that Salemme and Weadick are charged with, but Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred Wyshak said in court that they are unlikely to seek that option. He is being held without bail.
Former New England organized crime boss, Frank “Cadillac” Salemme, was indicted Friday in connection with a 1993 murder of a South Boston club owner.
Salemme, who was arrested last month and did not appear in court on Friday, has also proclaimed his innocence. Flemmi claimed that Salemme’s son, Frank, was strangling DiSarro, while Weadick held DiSarro’s legs in the air so that the victim could not support himself, according to the DEA report.
Salemme and the second man, Paul M. Weadick of Burlington, are accused of helping to murder Steven A. DiSarro on May 10, 1993, in a Sharon, a killing that was largely carried out by Salemme’s late son, Francis P. Salemme Jr., who died in 1995, according to federal court records. Weadick was arrested Friday. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
