Also on Friday, the Outland Trophy, honoring the nation’s top interior lineman, released its watch list which featured a trio of Bruins as well — center Jake Brendel along with defensive linemen Kenny Clark and Eddie Vanderdoes. UC also was second in the league in sacks allowed with 16. Before he came to Arizona, he played both tackle positions at California in 23 games while starting in seven of them. The FWAA All-America Committee, after voting input from the association’s entire membership, selects the 26-man All-America Team and eventually the Nagurski finalists. Defensive tackle Mike Reid won the honor in 1969. In 1995, the FWAA named the award in honor of the legendary two-way player from the University of Minnesota. The victor of the 70th Outland Trophy will be announced on ESPN on The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 10 for the first time from the National Football Foundation’s College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. “Shilique looks forward to the opportunity to continue to grow as a football player, and we will continue to explore new and innovative ways in our defensive package to help further increase his productivity”.
Moreau, a second-team all-conference selection, was a starter in all 13 games. The duo were key members of a unit that produced 500 yards or more of total offense eight times and stood among the national team leaders in passing offense (3rd/371.9 pg), total offense (5th/533.0 pg) and scoring (22nd/35.8 ppg). He also led the Spartan defensive linemen with 15 production points in the win over Michigan October 25, including three solo tackles with a 5-yard sack. His 58 stops in 2014 ranked third on the team and his nine pass breakups ranked among the best in the Big Ten.
Calhoun paced the Spartans with 17 production points at Indiana after collecting four tackles, including 2.5 for losses (20 yards) and one sack (11 yards).
Santos-Knox is also up for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which highlights the best defensive player in the nation and is chosen by the Maxwell Football Club. The redshirt sophomore from Bealeton, Virginia, started the final six games and logged 629 plays on the season.

In 2013, consensus All-America cornerback Darqueze Dennard became the first Spartan player in school history to be selected as a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
