STEVE McClaren has been sacked as Newcastle United manager, a club statement has confirmed.

Fired as Real Madrid coach in January, Benitez was presented as the new manager on Saturday and said it was “normal” to have the break clause in his deal. And if Benitez has success against the league leaders in his first match at the helm of one of the most defeated clubs in the Premier League today, it could become a quick rise to the top for a club in desperate need of some hope. “If we do well I can stay here for a while”.

And Howey, who feels Newcastle could also follow in the footsteps of Sunderland, however, insisted that managing the St James’ Park outfit will be a different kind of assignment for the former Real Madrid and Liverpool boss Benitez.
But in the few instances when I’ve had to form an opinion on a football match in such circumstances I’ve preferred just to judge it for what it is.
