Ex-NFL QB Johnny Manziel indicted in Texas

Prosecutors in Dallas said they would likely make an announcement Tuesday regarding a local grand jury’s decision on Manziel, the troubled former National Football League quarterback and Heisman Trophy victor.

Manziel, a former Heisman Trophy victor who was once regarded as one of the hottest prospects in American football, is alleged to have struck then-partner Colleen Crowley several times during an attack in January. He faces up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine if convicted, according to the AP.

He is accused of kidnapping, hitting and threatening to kill ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley earlier this year.

Crowley alleged that she and Manziel had a confrontation in his hotel room around 1:45 a.m. January 30 and that he forced her to leave the hotel with him.

Cleveland cut him in March after two years of erratic play on the field and an off-the-field lifestyle that led to a trip to a rehabilitation center after his first season.

“We are not asking for any special treatment”, Hinton said.

A deal between Manziel’s attorneys and prosecutors to avoid a trial could include an agreement that Manziel seek anger management or domestic battery counselling, or undergo some form of substance abuse rehab, lawyers watching the case have said.

“He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the vehicle”, Crowley claimed in the affidavit.

Manziel was not arrested at the time of the incident, however, the Dallas Police Department made a decision to present evidence from that evening to the grand jury.

Looks like problems are piling up for Manziel after being cut loose by the Browns, he was sacked by his second agent, Drew Rosenhaus, before he was also fired by his first agent, Erik Burkhardt, back in February.

She said the two continued arguing as he drove her to her Fort Worth apartment, about 30 miles away.

Manziel drew the irk from Rosenhaus after partying at the Coachella Festival over the weekend, where he was reported by Page Six to have arrived wasted and partying wasted and stayed wasted. He was not arrested, and Crowley told police she didn’t want to press charges.
