Yep, more watch lists, although that essentially means we’re all one day closer to the start of a brand-new college football season. The John Mackey Award is given to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, while the Rimington Trophy is presented to the nation’s top center.
The Rimington Trophy Committee announced that six Big 12 centers have been named to the watch list for the 16th annual Rimington Trophy. The award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $115 million for CF Research.
Below is the complete watch list for the Mackey Award.
During his two years as a starter, Duke has won 19 games and played in the Chick-fil-A Bowl and Hyundai Sun Bowl. The O’Fallon, Mo. (Christian Brothers College) native has cleared the way for NIU offensive standouts like Jordan Lynch, Cameron Stingily and Drew Hare over the last three years, while initiating three of the best offenses in school history. He has started 27 consecutive games and played 2,030 career snaps. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, he graduated in December 2014 with a degree in kinesiology.
As the season progresses, the committee will continue to watch the 63 players and will announce its finalists on December 7, 2015. This is the third consecutive year that Boehm has been named to the list.
The Nittany Lions open the 2015 campaign on the road against Temple at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 5 at 3:30 p.m.
