The sudden death of former lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, Scott Weiland, 48, has led to the arrest of a bandmate after they were discovered to be in possession of crack cocaine.

Weiland’s death was announced Friday morning on his social media accounts.
While searching the bedroom where he died, police found a small amount of a substance they confirmed to be cocaine.
Stone Temple Pilots was forced to go on hiatus after the release of its 1996 album, “Tiny Music…”
Weiland had a long string of drug- and alcohol-related arrests and stints in rehab.

The Stone Temple Pilots broke up in 2003, reunited in 2008, and broke up for good in 2013.
A search warrant was executed by police after the 48-year-old was found dead inside his tour bus in Bloomington, Minnesota, on Thursday night while on tour with his new band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts.
Stone Temple Pilots was formed by Weiland with brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo, on guitar and bass, and the drummer Eric Kretz in the late 1980s in California.
Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, were scheduled to tour this month, with upcoming dates in Reno, Nevada, on December 18 and City Winery in Napa, Calif., on December 19.
Weiland had been struggling with drugs most of his career and although he declared himself drug free earlier this year, he once again struggled with drugs recently, said his friends.
Stars such as No Doubt’s Tony Kanal, Blink-182 star Travis Barker, actress/rocker Juliette Lewis, Vanilla Ice and Joe Perry also offered up thoughts and prayers, with the Aerosmith guitarist tweeting, “Extremely saddened to have read Scott Weiland passed”.
The family moved back to California when Weiland was a teenager. According to first responders on the scene, Weiland suffered a cardiac arrest. “And I guess you can only hope that this example resonates with some people about the choices they make while they’re young and what the consequences are”.
“One of the best performances I’ve ever seen in my life”, said Waugh, now the program director at WRNR. “You were gifted beyond words”.
He is survived by his wife Jamie Watchel and two children from his previous marriage to Mary Forsberg.

The band continued, “Part of that gift was part of your curse”.
