Ex-Subway pitchman Fogle gets more than 15 years in prison

He said that the very thing that turned into Fogle’s cash cow-losing weight on a diet of Subway sandwiches-ended up turning him into someone obsessed with sex.

Dr. John Bradford, a forensic psychiatrist, diagnosed Fogle with “mild” pedophilia.

In her explanation, Pratt said Fogle could have sought treatment when his sexual deviancy first began showing, but he didn’t.

The 38-year-old was sentenced at an Indianapolis court on Thursday after pleading guilty to the charges earlier this year.

Fogle eventually pleaded guilty to conspiracy to receive child pornography and traveling to have sex with a minor.

Fogle was hired by Subway 15 years ago after he credited the sandwiches and daily walks to a franchise of the chain for helping him lose more than 200 pounds in a year. Fogle has paid out $1.4 million in restitution, $100,000 for each of his 14 victims. The investigation that led to Fogle’s arrest involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including Indiana State Police, Indianapolis Metropolitan police, the FBI, Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Fogle was emotional as he apologized during a four hour sentencing hearing.

Fogle would pay a $400 “finder’s fee” and at least $300 for the sex.

Fogle cried during his statement before sentencing, saying his wife and children would never get over this. Under cross-examination, Bradford said Fogle acknowledged to paying a minimum of about $12,000 a year for sex.

Fogle will be sentenced by a federal judge on November 19 and faces up to 12.5 years in prison.

The pre-sentencing filing from Fogle’s layers stated that Fogle “is painfully aware of the fact that he has impacted the lives of minor victims, hurt those closest to him, and, for all practical purposes, destroyed the life he worked to build over the last 18 years”. Fogle’s wife reportedly filed for divorce.

“Obviously, I am extremely shocked and disappointed by the recent developments involving Jared”, she said in the statement released through Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt sentenced Fogle to 188 months on each count, to be served concurrently – which adds up to a little more than 15 1/2 years. Before Fogle entered his guilty pleas before the proceedings started, one of his lawyers told the judge that Fogle had paid 12 of the 14 victims and turned over the checks for the past two casualties.

Authorities ultimately determined that Fogle had received and viewed child pornographer, a few given to him by Taylor, between March 2001 and May 2015.
