Ex-‘Top Gear’ host Clarkson shifts to Amazon
“We’ve been so busy doing the bloody deal… that [the development] process now begins in earnest”, he said.

Just a day after Amazon announced that it had snared the highly sought-after signatures of Jeremy Clarkson and his former Top Gear co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond for a new motoring show, their producer has revealed more about the deal.
BBC is keeping the Top Gear brand.
But, in all the ways that matter, it will be “Top Gear” – and maybe better (even though the show will apparently have to do without it’s “tame racing driver”, The Stig).
Jeremy ‘Clarkson aka Jezz, James May aka Captain Slow and Richard Hammond aka Hamster have found a new job and they will soon be seen as a trio once again. The first show will go into production shortly and is scheduled to arrivein 2016.
On working with Amazon, Clarkson said: “I feel like I’ve climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship“. I have already been there. But I can’t tell you how good it feels to get the chance to produce something from scratch. May added: “We have become part of the new age of smart TV. Ironic, isn’t it?”
“Millions of Prime members are already enjoying our ground-breaking original shows”. Fans of the show must surely be eagerly awaiting news about the helmeted hero’s future.
It is not clear whether the new Clarkson show will be made available to viewers week by week – similar to Amazon’s British drama Ripper Street – or in a cache of shows which can be watched back-to-back, as was the case with Transparent.
The show is the latest example of Amazon’s successful move into TV shows and movies.
“This is a golden age of television, a great time for TV makers and storytellers”.
Broadcast: “Everyone we have talked to has said to us, “They leave you alone to make your show”.
Jay Marine, Amazon Prime Video EU vice-president released a statement (via Screen Rant).
