“Not just at sites like Planned Parenthood, but god, we’ve seen the Aurora, Colorado movie theatre incident, there have been a number of school incidents, what happened in Paris, that has to be on the forefront of your mind”, he said.

The ex-wife of the man accused of killing three people at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado says he told her years ago that he once put glue in the locks at an abortion clinic when he lived in SC.

The standoff at the clinic lasted about five-hours, before the suspect was arrested by police.

Dear appeared in a packed Colorado Springs court via a video feed from jail. Multiple benches in the courtroom have been reserved for these people.

He was advised by Judge Gil Martinez that he faces an initial charge of first-degree murder.

Authorities have not outlined a clear motive for the shooting in Colorado Springs or released a full accounting of the sequence of events that occurred Friday. Documents in the investigation of the shooting were ordered sealed by the court.

Citing unnamed law enforcement sources, several US media outlets said Dear made the “no more baby parts” comment to investigators after surrendering. Dear made an impression on Post the first time they met, he said, because he immediately gave him anti-Obama pamphlets.

Despite the lack of an official motive, public officials in Colorado and beyond are drawing their own conclusions about the attack.

Dear used a rifle in the shooting and also brought other firearms and ammunition, according to an official familiar with the case who was not authorized to talk publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

But, she added, “I think it’s very important for the government to call a terrorist, a terrorist”.

U.S. Attorney John Walsh says officials could also pursue federal charges in addition to charges brought by the state.

The vigil, hosted by Reproaction, included representatives from NARAL Pro-Choice America, Planned Parenthood, the Feminist Majority Foundation, GetEQUAL, the National Council of Jewish Women, and others. Court records show the charge was dismissed less than two months later.
