Excessive heat warning for much of Wisconsin
Highs in the 80s are expected to return this weekend. It seems like common sense but here are a few reminders to keep you and your family safe. The danger is the prolonged duration of hot temperatures and high humidity.

The hottest weather will come Saturday when the high is forecast to reach 99 degrees – without factoring in the humidity.
The National Weather Service has issued this excessive heat warning for the Quad-City region.
The Coachella Valley is also always there to remind us that it could be way, way hotter.
The National Weather Service is out with an excessive heat warning, which extends through at least Friday evening.
A Heat Advisory goes into effect this afternoon with a combination of high temps in the low 90s and increasing humidity.
According to the NWS, heat indices will peak at over 100 degrees and the unsafe heat “will make for oppressive outdoor conditions and an elevated risk for heat exhaustion”. Saturday won’t be much better, with a projected high of 100 degrees. Thursday will be a bit warmer, with highs in the low to mid 90s, and 100s across southeast Montana. A heat index of this magnitude is in the danger range for the likelihood of heat disorders with prolonged exposure or strenuous activity. The weather service suggests drinking plenty of fluids and staying out of the sun if possible. Friday, a cold front and low pressure will move through the Pacific Northwest and into Montana.
Here is a graphic of the Heat Index values or feels like temperatures across the country around Noon PDT Wednesday July 20, 2016.
Our latest analysis shows the chance for a complex of storms late Thursday night and early Friday morning.
