Exciting news for the London Tube
It looks like a lot of people took advantage of the new 24-hour service last night, which will make life so much easier for Londoners (well, those who live on the Victoria or Central lines anyway).

The London Underground started running all-night rides on two lines, the Victoria and Central, coming into line with mass-transit practices in NY and Paris and other party-down towns.
The Night Tube start date on the Central and Victoria lines is Friday August 19.
Around 100 British Transport Police (BTP) officers will be on patrol across the network on Friday and Saturday nights to ensure a safe running service.
Transport for London estimates that the introduction of all-night services, after it’s rolled out in full, will boost the capital’s economy by £77 million a year.
London mayor Sadiq Khan ventured out on the Night Tube’s first journey, the BBC said. There is a network of night buses available – but they often run behind schedule, and are far slower than the “Tube”.
London bills itself as a global city, the world’s biggest financial center and a creative hub to rival NY.
London Underground once claimed the entire system would “come to a halt within days” if 24-hour running was introduced.
Founder and CEO of eMoov.co.uk, Russell Quirk, says: “In London in particular, property close by to a good transport link such as an underground station will always command more where price is concerned”.
London Underground (LU) expects 50,000 people to use the Night Tube each weekend, rising to 200,000 once all five lines are open.
Tens of thousands of Londoners crammed onto the Night Tube after midnight as Transport for London put the capital on 24-hour call out.
Bars, clubs, theatre and other late-night activities in London represent up to 40% of the U.K.’s £66 billion night-time economy, according to a study by London First, a nonprofit business advocacy group.
Those who already have to move around at night will experience immediate benefits. The cultural economy is a growth engine; one whose growth has outstripped many other sectors. Although the English translation, which sounds too much like “nightmare”, will be called a “Night Tsar” or similar: London mayor Sadiq Khan is now proposing such a role. The London Underground, also known as the Tube which is the oldest of its kind in the world.
The trains will run every 10 minutes through Central London and will cost the same as an off-peak fare (so not expensive).
