Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong sympathized with the households of the eight victims and wished the 101 survivors who have been being handled in the hospital a speedy restoration, in response to the assertion.

The accident has not affected the water supply in the area, the statement said, adding that water from the mains remained “safe for human consumption”.

Abu said the treatment plant had been cordoned off while management of the plant have been advised to take necessary precautionary steps.

Government stated a number of the victims have been discharged.

A source at the water board told NAN that the explosion followed a chlorine burst at the plant, which injured many and razed down nearby houses.

Abu further dismissed earlier insinuations that the explosion was another of Jos’ recent bomb blasts. I ran towards British-American Junction, while my friend ran towards the water board.

Meanwhile, Melvin Ejeh, the executive director of a non-governmental organisation, Global Peace and Life Rescue Initiative, who visited the scene of the disaster, said 14 persons were killed in the Industrial hazard.
