Several employees of the Priest Rapids Dam in Washington state were injured Thursday in an explosion, NBC News reported.

The blast did not compromise the structural integrity of the dam, which is more than 50 miles east of Yakima, Stredwick said.

“There was a few kind of mechanical malfunction”, said Grant County sheriff’s spokesman Kyle Foreman.

At 4:30 p.m. authorities received reports of the explosion, Foreman said.

The victims’ families have been notified of their conditions, which range in severity, Stredwick said.

Northwest MedStar has been called and multiple agencies have responded, including the Hanford Fire Department.
