Explosion, fire concerns lead Samsung to some Note 7 delays

Samsung has delayed shipments of its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7, as it conducts additional quality control testing. Production problems for the curved displays for the Galaxy S6 edge phone resulted in disappointing sales past year, and some investors fear a repeat if Samsung does not move quickly to meet Note 7 demand.

A delay in Note7 shipments could prove problematic for Samsung, as the device is seen as the company’s second most important device behind its flagship Galaxy S7.

While some users who saw the post claim the photo looked very similar to the Galaxy Note 7 that was reported to have burnt in the first incident, the others claimed that the models were different.

While Samsung is tight-lipped on the reasons behind the delay, they’re probably looking at all angles including how current customers will be affected.

For the phones sold in Korea and some overseas markets, ITM Semiconductor, a Korean firm, produces the battery pack. Sources close to the Korea Herald say that Samsung has launched an investigation into the problem and will make an announcement on the results of the investigation soon.

Samsung has confirmed that it is stopping shipments of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones due to faulty batteries. Samsung was counting on the Galaxy Note 7 to maintain momentum against Apple’s new iPhones – which are expected to be unveiled next week. There’s also a YouTube video of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 catching fire. But the tech giant is halting shipments of its highly anticipated handset over quality control concerns, and there are unconfirmed reports that it is considering a recall.

The headline new feature in the Note 7 is an in-built iris scanner, which verifies your identify with a quick glance of your eyeball.
