Police shut down nearby roads, but South Loop 336 has since been reopened as of 8:30 p.m. Friday evening, according to Montgomery County Fire Marshal Jimmy Williams.

Hazmat crews have not been called to the scene.

There was no immediate word of injuries. Foam was being applied to the fire at approximately 6:00 p.m. “They don’t want to do anything to endanger firefighters”.

The DrillChem manufacturing facility in Conroe was the scene of the explosions on Friday.

Residents within a 2-mile radius were ordered to shelter in place as live footage from local broadcasters showed thick smoke billowing from the chemical warehouse.

Firefighters spent about two hours working to bring it under control.

The afternoon fire, which sent towering plumes of smoke that could be seen for miles, followed several explosions, KHOU reported citing Conroe police.
