Eye-catching new gadgets as Berlin IFA warms up
Visitors walk past an array of 4K UltraHD television monitors at the Vestel stand at the 2015 IFA consumer electronics and appliances trade fair on September 4, 2015 in Berlin, Germany. One of the big players who won’t make an appearance is Apple, but it’s launch event of the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2, will capture some of the limelight as it is rumored for September 7.

Other highlights of the event included the unveiling of new additions to Samsung’s AddWash line of washing machines, as well as the announcement that Samsung’s Family Hub refrigerators are finally coming to Europe and will feature a Club des Chefs app-a reveal made by three of the Club’s Michelin-starred members themselves: Michel Roux, Michel Troisgros and Elena Arzak.
French tech firm Archos will present its low-priced Helium range of smartphones at this year’s IFA, with the 50f Helium, 55 Helium and 55 Helium Ultra, which go on sale after the event. It previously used the event to announce its phablet “Note” phones, but this year and last, it opted to launch them the month before during a separate function.
The new range also comes with an updated version of the Samsung Smart TV UI which adds auto-detection so the TV can recognise whether you’re connecting a console or streaming box etc.
Fitbit on Monday revealed the Fitbit Charge 2 and Fitbit Flex 2, both of which will be on display in Berlin.
While we are not sure of Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, one thing is confirmed at Samsung’s pre-IFA event today – yes, Gear S3.
The South Korean firm, fresh off the back of launching its stunning Galaxy Note 7 smartphone and Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic smartwatches, debuted a slew of new technologies and smart devices. However, we could see a sneak peek of the LG V20 at IFA.
The Sony Xperia XZ is the larger of the two, with a 5.2in curved 2.5D glass display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM.
Hideyuki Furumi, Executive Vice President for Global Sales and Marketing, Sony Mobile Communications said: “With Xperia we want to assist you when and where it matters most, making your everyday lives more convenient, more effortless, and more spontaneous”.
Samsung leads the race with it’s all new 88-inch SUHD TV that features the latest in quantum-dot technology. In May, Acer announced a partnership with StarVR to create its own PC VR gaming headset, and it might have a striking demo at this show.
