Ezekiel Elliott’s three TDs rescue Ohio State

When top rusher Jordan Howard went down with a left ankle injury in the first half, he went with Devine Redding. Isn’t that what logic tells you? “What direction we go, we’ll wait to see what happens there”.

The Buckeyes received 38 first-place votes after beating the Hoosiers 34-27. How was this possible?

“The rest of the day he has 72 yards”, Wilson said, subtracting the yardage of Elliott’s three longest runs.

“Coach Meyer made an emphasis that big plays are going to spark the team, and I knew we needed big plays, ” Elliott said after his 10th straight 100-yard game.

The “Silver Bullets” had a three-game streak of scoring a defensive touchdown prior to the tilt against the Hoosiers. Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds ran for 117 of his 183 yards in the first half and the Midshipmen began their quest to reclaim the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy with a 33-11 victory over Air Force…. Especially at the end, when Buckeyes cornerback Eli Apple batted away a desperation pass in the back of the end zone as time expired. Diamont was 6-for-14 for 76 yards. Sudfeld, who methodically led Indiana to a 10-6 halftime lead, was 10 of 21 for 134 yards before Diamont took over.

Smith had not caught a pass for the top-ranked Buckeyes.

On 4th and the game, Diamont couldn’t handle the snap, recovered, and tossed it to the back of the endzone. “I’ve felt confident since training camp and since coming off last season”.

A few contend Meyer wanted to run the clock, which I’m sure he did, but I don’t think that’s the reason he handcuffed Jones. Added Wilson: “He’s got different strengths and weaknesses”. This must change as the competition gets tougher. His teammates rally around him. That’s a sign that your program is growing. “We’ve got to eliminate that”. “It was an aggressive call, and I agreed with it”.

Ohio State (5-0) has now won 25 Big Ten regular season games in a row, a conference record. And yet, it almost ended at Memorial Stadium.

Stave was intercepted twice by Desmond King and lost two fumbles, including midway through the fourth quarter on Iowa’s 1. Elliott set the bar incredibly high a year ago with his string of 200-yard games in the postseason, but he is still running hard and waiting for a breakout game. One week after shutting down Georgia Tech in the second half of a key conference win, Duke’s defense held Boston College to just 141 yards passing and a single touchdown.

A lot of folks will start comparing the complacency of Florida State as a defending champ in 2014 to this OSU team. “It shows what we’re capable of”. What did we learn after the game though?

The quarterbacks, receivers and offensive line have all been up and down. With Big Ten play now started and games against Michigan and Michigan State looming, Ohio State could continue to struggle with Jones at the helm.

Thorson, a freshman quarterback, scored on runs of 5 and 1 yards to spark the offense for Northwestern (5-0, 1-0 Big Ten).

This is a game that is going to inspire some real #takes, some fair, some complete garbage.

Elliott had a career best 274 yards on 23 carries. Quarterback Jake Coker turned in his most-efficient effort to date, completing 11 of 16 passes for 190 yards and accounting for two touchdowns. The Hoosiers are MUCH better defensively. For all the Buckeyes’ warts, they do keep winning.

And now, Ohio State’s grip on the No. 1 ranking could be slipping after its 34-27 victory over the Hoosiers on Saturday. Ohio State was just 2-for-14 on converting third downs.

The Hoosiers also forced three Buckeye turnovers while not surrendering any.

It’s tough to be emotionally charged up every single week, and play flawless football, even against teams where you have a major talent advantage. But he’s suspended for an issue involving the IU Office of Student Ethics and Wilson had no comment after the game about his status. If this unit can’t stay on schedule and sustain long drives, a big reason why is the line.

And, at negative-20 rushing yards (including sacks), Jones did little to contribute on the ground. But the win doesn’t seem to have many fans convinced that the Buckeyes are that good this year. And so it was. “It’s our fault as coaches”.
