Fabian Delph’s Man City Move ‘Back On’ After Player Attends Medical

But now it appears the England star, who did not travel with the rest of the squad to Portugal last week, might have changed his mind again.

The news comes as a surprise after Aston Villa released a statement last week via their official website that Delph was set to stay at Villa Park beyond this summer.

“I’m not leaving. I’m staying at the football club and I can’t wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club”, said Delph on Saturday.

With Villa facing a battle to keep prolific striker Christian Benteke, the latest U-turn from the club’s captain will make the remainder of the transfer window a hard period for boss Tim Sherwood.

Delph seems good enough to be playing at a higher level and may now be on his way to securing a big move for his career.

Suppose Delph does go through with it after swearing his heart to Villa?

Delph’s exit will hurt Villa in that the contract he signed in January this year includes an £8m release clause that City are believed to have activated for a second time.

Since then all has been quite, while City have spent £49m on Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling (via BBC).
